Today is World Parkinson’s Day, something which exists to raise the profile of this condition which many people across the country are living with. The key focus is highlighting the effects from this condition and educating people about how they can remedy certain issues. Lots of support will be on offer, providing people with a great opportunity to connect with like minded individuals to ensure they’re never left isolated.
What is World Parkinson’s Day?
This is a day which has been purposefully dedicated to the community of people who are affected by Parkinson’s. It’s generally believed that not many people know enough about Parkinson’s, which is why days like this exist, since the spotlight will be placed firmly on the effects and how to spot the early signs of its progression.
With a greater understanding of Parkinson’s, lots more people should feel inclined to further fundraising efforts and push for greater benefits for what’s unfortunately a condition without a known cure. But, with a collaborative effort made by a sizable population, we could in fact make the idea of a cure a much more realistic proposition.
What is Parkinson’s?
Anyone living with Parkinson’s is likely to display a variety of symptoms, but there’s three which stand out most. They would be slow bodily movements, shaking, and stiffness felt around muscles. Away from physical issues, they may also develop low moods, struggle to sleep and even lose their sense of smell.
Parkinson’s will start taking effect when nerve cells found in the brain cease to exist. When this happens, your dopamine levels will reduce, which happens to be an integral component behind the regulation of bodily movements. It’s still unclear as to the cause of Parkinson’s, but it’s reasonably clear that environmental factors and genetics are possible causes.
How Live-in Care Supports Parkinson’s
If you live with Parkinson’s, you may struggle to maintain your daily routines. You could of course seek support from care homes, but for the tailored attention you will likely need, having live-in care services readily available will ensure daily tasks and personal care is managed effectively, and all within the comfort of your own home.
Everyone is different, and some people may have developed much heftier symptoms than others, which is why care plans are made to suit you alone, with reviews conducted to see whether particular measures should be increased, or if new strategies should be considered to help combat emerging issues.
Here at Promedica24, we are incredibly selective about the people we provide for Parkinson’s live in home care, since we need to ensure they can strike a long and meaningful relationship with our clients. They’ll become a permanent source of companionship during the most difficult periods, helping you retain a more positive outlook on life in general.
