At Promedica24, we understand the challenges care workers face every day. Providing compassionate, high-quality care requires immense dedication, yet many in the sector experience financial difficulties, health issues, or personal crises that can make their roles even harder. That’s why we are proud to support The Care Workers’ Charity (CWC), an organisation dedicated to helping care professionals in their times of need.
Our Collaboration with The Care Workers’ Charity
Promedica24 has always been committed to improving the well-being of care workers, and our collaboration with CWC is a natural extension of this mission. Last year, we joined forces with the charity for their ‘5K for CWC’ fundraising campaign, which successfully raised £1,020. This initiative helped provide essential financial aid to care workers experiencing hardship, ensuring they could continue their invaluable work without the additional burden of financial stress.
Beyond fundraising, we have also worked with CWC on a storytelling campaign to raise awareness about the real-life challenges care workers face. These stories highlight the resilience of those working in social care and the life-changing support that CWC offers.
Real Stories, Real Impact
Salma’s Story: Overcoming Financial Fraud
Salma has worked in social care for over a decade, handling some of the most complex cases in her role. Despite her experience and financial awareness, she recently fell victim to a sophisticated scam that drained her savings. Left struggling to pay her rent and bills, Salma’s anxiety grew, and she found herself unable to sleep.
A colleague introduced her to The Care Workers’ Charity, and she applied for a crisis grant. To her relief, the charity was able to provide financial assistance, helping her regain stability and peace of mind. Today, Salma is back on track, continuing to do the job she loves, knowing that support is available when it’s needed most.
Ellie’s Story: Facing Unexpected Hardship
Ellie, a domiciliary care worker in Scotland, loves her job caring for elderly clients in their homes. However, when her partner suffered a serious accident and was unable to work, she found herself not only providing care professionally but also acting as a full-time caregiver at home. With a sudden loss of income, the couple struggled to cover their rent and essential bills.
Considering a high-interest payday loan, Ellie instead turned to CWC. A crisis grant provided much-needed relief, allowing her to focus on supporting her partner’s recovery without the added stress of financial insecurity. Thanks to the assistance, Ellie and her partner were able to get back on their feet.
Ava’s Story: A Lifeline During Illness
Ava, a 28-year-old care worker, was shocked to receive a melanoma diagnosis. Facing surgery and chemotherapy, she had to take time off work, which significantly impacted her income. With transport costs mounting and only statutory sick pay to rely on, Ava was struggling.
Through an online search, she discovered The Care Workers’ Charity and applied for a grant. The support she received covered essential costs, allowing her to focus on her health. Now back at work, she remains grateful for the assistance that helped her through such a difficult time.
Why Supporting Care Workers Matters
Care workers dedicate their lives to looking after others, yet many face personal struggles that make their roles even more challenging. Whether it’s financial hardship, unexpected health issues, or crises beyond their control, these professionals often have limited support available to them.
The Care Workers’ Charity plays a vital role in bridging this gap, providing emergency grants, mental health support, and advocacy for those in need. By sharing these stories, we hope to highlight the importance of supporting care workers—not just in times of crisis, but in their everyday lives.
Our Commitment to Care
At Promedica24, we believe that caring for those who care for others is essential. Our collaboration with The Care Workers’ Charity is just one way we demonstrate our commitment to the well-being of care professionals. We will continue to support initiatives that make a real difference in the lives of care workers and advocate for greater recognition of their invaluable contributions to society.
