National Careers Week: Why You Should Consider The Care Industry

7 March 2022

Deciding which career path to take can be very simple for certain people, however for many, this does require some extra support. Discovering the most suitable job which fits with your skill set, and comes with the capacity to encourage both progression and job satisfaction is crucial, not least how this forms the backbone behind your entire life until retirement.

We’ve decided to explain what sort of assistance can be provided throughout Careers Week 2022, and also how the care sector is ready and waiting to welcome brand new members who believe this offers the best opportunities in relation to their own unique preferences.

What is National Careers Week?

All the way back in 2010, the idea for Careers Week was conceived by a gentleman called Nick Newman, who wanted to open up the conversation with students about the sort of choices they should be making for their future career. This week will be a national celebration of promoting career opportunities and guiding young people into a path which can lead them to becoming the very best version of themselves.

The aim is also enriching the knowledge and impact being delivered by educators and advisors. With constant access to brand new resources, anyone working in the education sector will have the tools to truly inspire young people.

The Joys of Working in Care

It’s a hard but highly rewarding career. No two days are ever really the same and you’ll make some amazing friendships which could last a lifetime. But, above all this would be the impact you’re making on someone’s life, whether that be organising weekly routines for people living with dementia, or being that extra pair of hands to help with things like shopping or food preparation for anyone living with Motor Neurone Disease

Live-in care jobs can also be tailored to best fit your skills, therefore maximising your enjoyment of the role and impact you’re making on anyone we currently have under our care. Lot’s of training will be offered to keep your skills fresh, which in turn, should give you the platform to move forward in what’s such an integral industry not only in the UK, but all across Europe.

Is Care Work Right For You?

You need to be patient, understanding and organised. If you enjoy the challenge of helping people with significant health problems, this could be a great way to make a huge difference. Just be conscious of how resilience is often needed, particularly from a mental health perspective, given the extremity of what certain people have to live with each day. That’s why your role will prove so important, as this could be the key to unlocking even just a slightly more optimistic outlook for their future.

We are welcoming applications immediately and further information about the roles can be found here. Alternatively, you can call +44 (0) 1138 683000 or email careers@promedica24.co.uk to find out more about joining the team.
