How Do You Spend Christmas Alone?

alone

Do you think you’re likely to feel lonely at Christmas this year? There’s honestly nothing to worry about. With the right mindset, you can still enjoy the festive season, even if you’re not surrounded by other people. Our team has already highlighted some really simple ways to help you feel less lonely during Christmas, and decided to continue this trend with some further steps you can.

Virtual Meet-Ups

It could be that you simply can’t get out and about anymore due to health conditions. If you have Parkinson’s or Motor Neurone Disease, it can be very hard making even the simplest bodily movements, so it could be essential that you stay at home. Should this be the case, why not take advantage of virtual communication such as Zoom. You can even invite lots of people at once, helping you feel the benefit from the lively atmosphere something like this can create.

Don’t Get Swept Away

Celebrating Christmas is not compulsory, and you certainly shouldn’t feel any kind of pressure to be swept away. It can become overwhelming being exposed to constant marketing campaigns which make you feel as if Christmas is the be all and end all, but it’s simply not. You’ll soon notice how stripping away the commercial angle does in fact simplify this time of year quite substantially. Just focus on yourself, and of course, seek out any support you feel may be necessary.

Focus on 2022

The long nights and cool weather certainly make this time of year drag, but remember it will end at some point. Next year, we have the whole spring and summer to look forward to, a period of the year typically more conducive to better mental health. So get things in the dairy, and when the winter strain starts to become too much, simply shift your thoughts onto the future. In fact, your mind is the biggest thing to consider, which is why meditation techniques or even simple exercise could also be something to consider.

How We Can Help

Promedica24 can offer tailored support in relation to your specific needs. We also have home companion care workers, who are mainly tasked with improving the well-being of the most vulnerable. They can be there on a permanent basis, caring for people who need assistance with daily tasks, and also the mental reassurance that comes from having someone else present.

To ensure you get the support you need, we have an online assessment tool. This takes a close look at your mental status, physical function and personal care needs. From there, we can provide the most appropriate care, making sure necessary changes are implemented over time to maximise our impact.

If you would like to find out more or access our services, please visit promedica24.co.uk to use our online chat service. You can also get in touch with our team on 0800 086 8686 or by sending an email to care@promedica24.co.uk. If you’d like to assess your care and support needs rapidly online, we have a tool available for you to do this.

Criteria for Assisted Living

Finding the most suitable care plan is vitally important. Where some people may need substantial care, others could benefit from far less intervention, helping them live independently but with support as and when it’s only needed.
