A retired doctor from Sheffield is delighted to be one of the first clients of Promedica24, the UK’s leading live-in care provider, to receive her Covid-19 vaccine.
Janet Brown from Sheffield, who turned 80 in October, spent her working life as an NHS doctor, so very well understands the importance of vaccination programmes. Last week, she took her first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at her local health centre.
Janet said: “I am happy that after a very difficult last year, there are finally effective vaccines that will enable us to end the pandemic and get back to our normal lives. I strongly encourage everyone to attend their vaccination appointments.”
Janet’s daughter Clare added: “During lockdown, even a trip to a vaccination centre seemed like an adventure!
Janet lives at home with her Promedica24 live-in carer, Oliwia. This helps her to retain independence and wellbeing during the lockdown while receiving the vital care, companionship and support she needs to thrive.
While her carer Oliwia has only been working with Janet since November, they hit it off straight away. Together they have spent their first weeks knitting, baking, taking short, socially distanced walks and watching TV quiz shows. Janet is enjoying trying Polish recipes, especially pierogi – a type of dumplings filled with cheese and potato.
“We are so pleased we went ahead with live-in care for Mum,” said Clare.
“As local family members work full-time, she used to be alone and bored most days but since Oliwia arrived she has been much happier. Knowing Mum is safe and cared for is a huge relief for all the family.”
