How do you choose the right live-in care service for an elderly or vulnerable loved one? Promedica24’s West Sussex Care Consultant Jo White-Smith believes this to be the most important question and it forms the basis of how she works within her local community to provide West Sussex care support. Being committed, visible, compassionate, supportive and a familiar face forms part of Jo’s purpose to earn the trust of those with live-in care needs and their families.
Actions really do speak louder than words, and Jo certainly fulfills her commitment to the West Sussex community on a weekly basis. Being present and meeting local people is her priority – below is a recent working week for Jo:
Monday
Planning the week ahead; responding to new and existing client inquiries; assessing care needs and liaising with the care team and franchise partners; connecting with local groups through social media.
Tuesday
Volunteering at a local pop-up event for Age UK – serving tea and cakes, chatting to visitors, and giving a short presentation on PM24’s live-in care services.
Wednesday
Catch-up meeting with the head of PM24 Care Team South; Teams meeting with Worthing Dementia Hub to plan an October event sponsored by PM24; Evening network event at the Sussex Care Forum.
Thursday
Volunteering at the Rother Valley Group in Midhurst as quizmaster, serving tea, coffees, and lunch and escorting members home by bus.
Friday
Preparing a raffle for a Glamour Club Saturday event; responding to client enquiries; carrying out a home assessment for a prospective new client; planning marketing initiatives.
Saturday
Volunteering at the Worthing Glamour Club event – PM24 has been supporting this organisation for the last 5 years, both financially and by helping at various charitable occasions.
Her support and commitment range from volunteering at local events across the West Sussex region, providing financial sponsorship to several voluntary organisations, donating raffle prizes to independently fundraising for relevant charities. Jo took part in the Alzheimer’s Glow event in London last March and raised £500, and in October she will take part in the Portsmouth Memory Walk on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society.
She is currently busy baking cakes as she will be hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning in September for neighbours in her village!
