Multiple Sclerosis Care with Promedica24

Living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) makes the comfort of home more important than ever. Being surrounded by your own space, belongings, and memories can offer stability and peace of mind.

We’re here to make staying at home not only possible, but practical with one-to-one live-in care tailored to your changing needs. MS symptoms can vary day to day, from fatigue and mobility issues to cognitive changes. A dedicated carer provides consistent support that adapts with you, helping with personal care, daily tasks, and offering companionship along the way.

Live-in care means no disruption to your routine, no adjusting to a care home schedule – just familiar surroundings and the dignity of staying in control. Both you and your loved ones can feel reassured knowing our fully trained carers will support you with compassion and sensitivity, always adjusting as your needs evolve.

A personalised Multiple Sclerosis care plan

We understand that your care needs will be completely individual and will change over time. All of our Multiple Sclerosis live-in care plans are tailored around the person and their needs and are regularly reviewed.

Support to continue daily routines

Staying at home means you or your loved one can adapt to their symptoms in familiar surroundings where they feel comfortable, allowing them to maintain their daily routines.

Sensitively managing emotions

Living with MS can be emotionally tough. Your live-in carer provides more than just physical help—they offer daily companionship, emotional reassurance, and support with memory or concentration challenges that may come with MS.

Nutrition & Hydration

Eating well is key to staying strong. Your carer will prepare nutritious meals suited to your needs and ensure you stay hydrated throughout the day – supporting your overall wellbeing.

Preservation of dignity and independence

The level of support and assistance you require is completely up to you, allowing you to maintain as much of your independence as possible. Should you require help with personal care such as dressing, bathing or going to the toilet, our carers can provide discreet and dignified personal care.

Pairing you with the right carer

We take time and care to talk to you to find the kind of person you’d like to be around. From there we’ll do our best to find you someone who’s a good fit and can provide the right emotional support and companionship.

What is Multiple sclerosis?

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic condition that affects the central nervous system, which includes the brain and spinal cord. It happens when the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the protective covering (called myelin) around nerve fibers. This damage disrupts the communication between the brain and the rest of the body.

MS symptoms vary widely but often include fatigue, difficulty walking, muscle weakness, numbness or tingling, vision problems, and challenges with coordination and balance. The condition can also affect thinking and memory. MS is unpredictable—some people have mild symptoms, while others may experience more severe disabilities. Although there is currently no cure, many treatments and support options, like live-in care, can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

How to spot signs of Multiple sclerosis (MS)

Multiple sclerosis (MS) can cause a variety of symptoms that often come and go, such as numbness or tingling in the limbs, muscle weakness or spasms, persistent fatigue, vision problems, balance issues, bladder or bowel difficulties, cognitive changes, and sometimes speech or swallowing challenges. If you notice any of these symptoms lasting more than a day or worsening, it’s important to consult a doctor for proper evaluation.

Multiple Sclerosis FAQ

How will MS affect my daily life?

MS affects everyone differently. Some may have mild, occasional symptoms; others might need help with mobility, personal care, or medications. With the right support, like live-in care, you can stay independent and improve your quality of life.

Can multiple sclerosis be managed with lifestyle changes?

Yes. While lifestyle changes don’t cure MS, gentle exercise, a healthy diet, stress control, and staying cool can help manage symptoms and improve wellbeing.
